We're in Utah!

We arrived in Utah yesterday to have some fun in the snow. Alexa has become more interested in Photography and wanted to take some pictures of her own. This was taken yesterday by Cedar Breaks National Monument. More pictures to come soon.

Sunset

We feel sort of lucky to be able to live in an house where from our second floor we can see clear to the Ocean (on the good days, without smog) so many times all we have to do is turn westward to view the sunset each day. We really enjoyed this daily scene when we first moved into our house a few years ago, but now that we're "lived in" I think we take it for granted. Well for the past week, we've seen some amazing sunsets so you can't help but take notice. I've been meaning to take a picture of it, but keep forgetting to look outside at the right time. Well today, I was about to help Andrew with his homework when I looked outside the window and saw the sun setting with a beautiful color of orange. The first shot was taken from our second floor. The second shot was taken at street level just out in front of our house. These shots taken straight from the camera.

Remembering Capt. Trevor J. Yurista

Captain Trevor J. Yurista entered the Marine Corps in 2005 and deployed to Iraq in 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. A year later, he VOLUNTEERED to go back to Iraq and serve as a senior Intelligent advisor. In 2008 after training other Marines how to fight in Iraq and in the war against Terrorism, he VOLUNTEERED again to fight in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

On Oct 27, 2008 following several hours of intense combat with enemy forces, Captain Yurista was killed when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED). Captain Yurista was awarded numerous medals during his short time in the Marine Corp including the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and many others.

Sometimes, as we cope with our everyday lives, we forget that there are many of our brothers and sisters out there, risking their lives every single day to protect our freedom, to protect our way of life. Please pray for Captain Trevor J. Yurista and his family and for all the other service men and women who are in harms way, fighting for us. God Bless you Captain.

Below is a short slideshow of the Memorial for Captain Yurista.
